Meet MacSou
Who is Macsou?
Moeketsi Nelson Tshabalala, also known as MacSou, hails from Katlehong in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. MacSou is a musician proficient in playing instruments such as the piano. His musical style is a fusion of old school music and modern sounds. Initially, he delved into producing House Music, drawing inspiration from both local and international artists such as Louie Vega, Josh Milan, Mr. V, Abicah Soul, and others.
As MacSou honed his craft and focused on the piano and music, he broadened his musical horizons by embracing genres such as jazz, hip hop, kwaito music, neo soul, nu jazz, drum and bass, among others. He received extensive training and knowledge in keys and production from Kingbizza Keys, D General from Deep Xcape, and Kgothatso Laka Music Academy. Subsequently, he became a member of the bands 2Cardigans and Bowtie, also known as Cooligans, and performed at renowned music festivals including Smoking Dragon Festival, Up in Smoke Music Festival, and Black Labone. The band also participated in a Radio Podcast in the UK called Catch 22 and was featured in music articles such as Kakrow Music Article in Poland. Notably, the band's project "Death of a Genre" is available on all digital platforms.
MacSou further expanded his reach by collaborating on international releases with Cphiwe Cas Miz, including a remix of "Mind Streets Record Label - It's Alright" featuring Cinnamon Brown and the song "Celebrate" featuring Andrea Love, both available on various digital stores. Additionally, MacSou released an EP titled "Compact Spaces," influenced by house music, and contributed to projects released by the YHV record label from Asia, collaborating with Lexacon from South Africa.
MacSou is eagerly anticipating the release of music as a producer in the upcoming years. Presently, he is immersed in creating Neo soul and Nu Jazz music, with plans to focus on a Drum and Bass EP, alongside his ongoing work in house music.
Furthermore, MacSou is keen on establishing a new band and engaging in numerous other projects, particularly following his relocation to the USA.
